A Night out In Tiger Town
(Ashley Brown to the left, rap artist Lavish to the right)

(Always make sure to tip the lovely waitress!!!) :)
This wasn't a night for the Mizzou Tigers on this day of March. It was a night out for this tiger. It was my birthday on March 16, 2012. I spent it with some friends and business friends. I kept the music theme for the night, starting with dinner at Jazz, with live music in Columbia, Missouri then to Trops, and later on to The Penguin piano bar for another set of live cover music .
I love the company of friends, and business partners, a night away from working, but still have to be in a musical environment. The best thing about being in music is the bond you make with each person you meet, and I found that speaking of music or being in the atmosphere, helps you over come stage social phobias, and even that great stage fright, that many face while on stage or before on stage. It's always a nice thing to step out, and loosen up because sometimes taking an adventure will get you to open up your creativity as well. With that In mind, GO TIGERS!!!!! P.S. Congrats to the Mizzou Tigers on their big 12 Basketball Champions.

Make Use of the Web
Just simply by creating a YouTube.com page, or a ReverbNation.com page will be a way to connect with more people who are into the same things your are into. It's not all about the music, touching base with the people you love and the peers, old friends, could all be essential to your growth and confidence as a person. You will be surprised to see how interested people will be in you and what you do!

2 Great Music People I have Researched
I have been researching a few voices in music that I have found quite melodic toward learning the business example, in my education career.
The names would include two Brooklyn Kids:
Sony BMG's own Clive Davis

Rap Icon Jay-Z

When I think of two different kinds of Entertainment people, coming from two different worlds, two different life styles, from the same city, different neighborhoods and times, but both live in the world of music like great kings, I am astonished at the ultimate potential of what what the music could bring. Clive Davis is the President of Talent Relations at Sony BMG, who's been in the music business for over 4 decades, has been influential in the careers of many pop icons such as: Whitney Houston, Busta Rhymes, Alycia Keys, Rod Stewart,
Carlos Santana, and the latest Jennifer Hudson and many more artist within that time span. He was the founder of Arista Records, created J Records, even co-founder with Sean P. Diddy Combs at Bad Boy Records. His early work was law school at Harvard University, from there he was the assistant council at CBS, and from there he went to Columbia Records, which emerged a music producer like none other. His humble understanding of talent, and persistent will to be a successful business man never failed, even losing Arista Records, he never stopped his passion to be in music, and discovering raw talent, and making them stars.
The King of Brooklyn himself Jay-Z, well I am sure we all know something about Jay-Z, the music mogul, owner of the Brooklyn Mets, Rocc-a-wear clothing line, Rocc Nation and even adding cologne, vodka, and a chain of hotels to his stable. He keeps racing and is an effective businessman. He takes only the facts and doesn't make his business decisions off of emotions. Jay's approach is to collect all the data on what he is interested in, explore the market, and invest. Many steps follow with investing, but the potential can be exponential even astronomical, when looking at how far he's come. From the streets of Brooklyn, New York, Jay-Z is bringing more jobs to his home city then we the audience could ever realize.

Why am I speaking to your vision?
This blog’s purpose is to help out up and coming musicians make a living off of their music. I am here to help and link songwriters, artist, producers, who may never knew how to do it or ones who want to make a living off doing what they are passionate about. I will also be showing the musical community some of the good things and bad things I have ran into in the past 15 years of my music background. Aside our passion as artist/producers, we also need to have integrity, be optimistic, be assertive when dealing with others, and know how to listen in any business sense, so that we may learn.
The target audience I am trying to reach out to is the music community. When I say the music community I mean even the peers and family members of the artist. Any info from this blog may be helpful to anyone that makes music, who knows a local artist or just interested in pursuing music, and making a living off of it in any fashion. Educate yourself and learn the music theory side, and the business and marketing aspect as well. This isn’t for just one genre of music, and I would suggest this channel: Live off Beats for any musician, wanting to make a living off of music.
Live Off Beats by Post Man
Blogs serves well in marketing, as I have learned at Full Sail University, and companies really are geared toward, looking into blogs, as a means of new ideas, network, and even to invest. We need to know what is going on around us, what things we can take in and use to improve what we do or simply be informed. Do not be steered away at the term marketing, it happens in every business and profession, and it can help you the artist, expand your audience, and network base. The world has become more linked and global business can be really profitable. We as artist now have the tools to live off of web based sales, that doesn’t mean do not press CD’s no more or don’t do shows, still keep those so people can be close to us, however digital sales are just as useful, and we can tap into new areas that we may have not toured to yet. If someone misses a show, we could easily use social networks such as: YouYube, Facebook, Twitter, Stickam, Reverb Nation, Sound Cloud, Sound Click, Daily Motion, Photobucket, Myspace, and any other network to bring our fans toward us, and also may just be seen by the industry or potential marketers to help us out.
The Forum Of Music
Does your heart beat if you are alive?
Isn’t that sound a rhythm?
When you speak or sing, good at it or not, doesn’t it have a tone?
When you listen out into the world: hear the wind, the trees, the rain, and the animals, doesn’t that world make many melodies?
Do you ever wake up from a dream, with the sound of a song in your head?
Have you ever seen one of your favorite music stars and dreamed of being on stage or even doing the things what you love about them so much?
What is it that makes you love the sound of music so much?
We all have had a point in time: where we needed some music the capture the moments, Love, Anger, Happy, Sad or even Mellow.
As a music artist my job isn’t just to create music.
Yes, I am a music producer, but my job isn’t just to combine artist, with a tune, and make sure the song is arranged well…
My job is to capture the emotion of everything, from the simplest things in life, to the biggest things in life.
When you are bored, and just gazing off into space, sometimes do you tap on a chair or desk, as annoying as it may be to some, isn’t that a form of music?
Have you ever herd keys jingling, wind chimes glide through the air, a fan move, a car start, an alarm sound, a door open, a door slam, food cooking, an appliances running, a phone ring, a stadium crowd, the sounds of people talking and communicating?
Music is much the same as all those elements, except it tells a story, a theme, its shapes and colors, another world, another language, it’s a different time, a different place, it’s much the same as the emotions because it to, has a life of its’ own…
The soul purpose, of this blog, is to explore creativity, and the life in behind the art.
Music production isn’t just about producing music, it is to bring the best out of all the elements that drive a person dreams and emotions.
For some music could be a “Mistress” as Jazz Legend Duke Ellington put.
Many people would say music is as the Earth Wind and Fire song, “Fantasy”.
Stevie Wonders’ 70’s album was entitled “Song in the Key of Life” and as all these Rock&Roll Hall of Fame artists captured, it was all about exploring and captivating others just by a series of played sounds and combined with vocals and sound effects to tell a story in time.
Today is all about: your story, my story, and our stories, in the forum of music…
